The small town retirement residence portfolio and the Gardens of Ingersoll project will be a continuation on a series of new greenfield developments by Gardens Retirement Developments Inc. The principals, Bill and Phil Mardimae, are well-known and highly regarded project managers, consultants and developers with over 40 years’ experience in the health care/seniors housing industry. They have developed expertise in the selection of locations for retirement residences and the marketing strategy to tailor the facility to match the requirements of the community. Gardens has developed a team of experienced consultants and advisors for these projects.
Eldercare Consulting Inc.
As President of Eldercare Consulting Inc, Shael Simon has 16 years of Retirement Home and Long-Term Care Home management experience. Shael was first exposed to the industry at an early age thanks to his father and mentor, Manny Simon, a 44-year industry veteran. He has been involved in all aspects of the business, including business development, finance and marketing. Shael’s primary focus has been provision of management and consulting services to Retirement Residences. Most recently, seeing a 70-suite Retirement Home through phases of design & construction, start-up of operations, lease-up & stabilization to where they have successfully constructed and opened a 37 suite addition. Prior to his current position, Shael earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Western Ontario as well as a Masters of Business Administration degree from the Rotman School of Business at the University of Toronto. Upon graduation, Shael got his start in the health care field at a generic pharmaceutical company where he was employed for 2 years as a Financial Analyst.
Phil McKenzie
Phil has been providing community relations and marketing expertise to retirement housing companies and projects for over 30 years. Having spoken to and worked with thousands of people making the transition to retirement living he’s been in a position to hear what’s important in the design of the space and the providing of services. His responsibility is to ensure that the living space and the services work as well as possible for those making this decision.
